Alan Cumming Has Skin In The Game!

Intact America’s
Skin in the Game Award
On April 30, 2025, Intact America proudly hosted its inaugural Skin in the Game Award at the Poster House in New York City. This pinnacle event highlighted IA’s 17 years of advocacy and education in service to its mission: ending the routine practice of infant circumcision in the United States. The evening marked a breakthrough moment for the intactivist movement, uniting longtime advocates and new voices in a powerful evening of stories, connection, and shared purpose.
The first Skin in the Game honoree is international superstar, Alan Cumming, a bold longtime supporter of Intact America and the intactivist movement through interviews, authorship of “May the Foreskin Be With You”; his one-man cabaret show “Uncut”; and more.
The Skin in the Game Award is given to persons of prominence who demonstrate:
INTACTIVISM
outspoken opposition to the forced genital cutting of children and others unable to consent
FORESKIN POSITIVITY
and celebration of intact male genitals
COMPASSION
for those who are recovering from the trauma of circumcision
SUPPORT
for Intact America’s mission and vision
Alan Cumming’s impressive career straddles decades, continents, genres, and boundaries. The multi-award winning, multi-hyphenate artist’s many theatre triumphs range from iconic performances as diverse as the Emcee in “Cabaret” to nearly all the parts in Macbeth to world tours with solo cabaret shows, the most recent of which is “Uncut.” His filmography weaves seamlessly between blockbuster and art house. He is a #1 New York Times best-selling memoirist and the author of six other books. Alan has had huge television success in dramas like “The Good Wife” and most recently as the Emmy-winning host of Peacock’s “The Traitors.”
As an activist and philanthropist, he has worked extensively for animal rights (as seen in the HBO documentary “Chimp Crazy”), many LGBTQ+ organizations, and in the fields of mental health, sex education, reproductive rights, and anti-circumcision. He owns Club Cumming, a cabaret bar in downtown New York City, and is artistic director of the Pitlochry Festival Theatre in his homeland of Scotland.

Thanks to the passion and generosity of the community, Intact America raised nearly $150,000 to support our ongoing efforts through education and advocacy to end the harm of circumcision in the United States. The most common pediatric surgery in the U.S. — despite being medically unnecessary— is a BIG business ($6 BILLION annually) that profits from the vulnerability of mothers, the pain and lifelong harm to baby boys and the men they will become, and everyone in their personal orbits.
The vibe among the sold-out crowd of 130 at Poster House NYC, the new museum devoted to the best of advertising, was fabulous and fun. Attendees had come from all over the country and some from the UK. Alan was, as always, charming and witty. The Scotsman spoke about why he took on this cause soon after arriving in the United States. Over the past year two years, he’s performed his one-man, pop-up cabaret show called “Uncut” built around his personal experience as an intact immigrant coming to America. After the award ceremony, he and DJ, Bright Light Bright Light got the room up and dancing with their after-party DJ set. We loved re-connecting with veteran intactivists post-pandemic and welcoming newcomers to our movement.
